My amazing shock on my 50th Birthday

Back in April 2017 I wrote the story of my career to-date for John Paul Dejoria, the co-founder of Paul Mitchell products. I wrote about how had he inspired me throughout my hairdressing career and that I have used these amazing products for the last 21 years while working behind the chair.

On the 22nd May 2017, I sent this letter to America using a special signed for delivery. Unfortunately it was sent back having been refused at the delivery address.  I know I wrote in my blog that  I was very disappointed by this, but as you know, I always turn a negative into a positive and through writing my story for JP and I realised how positively that process had helped me. It was then I decided to start writing my blog. By writing, I have found it really helps me express myself and has helped me unbelievably with my confidence. More than often, I don’t share with my readers every thing I write.

I have always had a strong sense, that one day I will somehow feel a sense of achievement and I still think that I will meet JP himself. He is such an inspirational man and I love the ethos behind John Paul Mitchell Systems. I have been so incredibly fortunate throughout my  career to have met some very inspirational people, who love to share their knowledge and wisdom with me. I feel incredibly blessed by their input and that is why I share my knowledge and wisdom in my world. I achieve a real sense of achievement as I get so much from “giving back”.

On my 50th birthday, I got such a shock after having been given a bag full of gifts from my mentor Sal Cooke OBE.  Even when I was unveiling each present, I did not get a clue to my main present. Hand on heart, I just did not even begin to suspect there was going to be a personally signed photo of JP, together with a message of appreciation.

I never been so shocked,  I was so emotional and was crying with happiness. It was such an amazing surprise. But my immediate after-thought was,

“I have a singing exam in a hour, how on earth am I going to stop crying?”

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in making this happen for me, I can not express how happy it made me feel. Thank you for taking time out of your incredibly busy days to do this for me. I feel so honoured by this.

One day before my career ends, I still visualise that I will personally meet JP. But for now, I am contented, feeling fabulous at fifty, incredibly happy, creative, positive whilst working behind the chair with my amazing clients and the inspirational Paul Mitchell products.

My world is  shinning bright with love and light.

Love and light
