I recently attended the first ever Yorkshire Salon Awards alongside Richard my husband and business partner.
It was a brilliant experience and I felt extremely proud to be in the finals and I would personally like to congratulate all the winners.
I just loved been in a room with so many hairdressers having such fun, it was fantastic to see. Such a positive and up lifting energy in the room. Everyone
certainly dressed to impress.
I would like to personally thank everyone involved, you all did amazingly. A big thank you to Kate Jeffery for your hard work in organizing the event I really hope you are taking a well earned rest now.
Having had the experience, I really think that all of us working in the hairdressing industry should look out for salon awards 2019. I really hope that many many hairdressers read this blog and I am asking all of you to make sure you enter, you really do deserve the recognition for doing your amazing work in the hairdressing industry.
Personally I was not really thinking of entering myself until various people told me I should, including my mentor Sal, who finally persuaded me to . I am really pleased that I did enter and I was so proud that I was shortlisted in two categories and our salon The Color Bridlington was also shortlisted in Salon of the year, so a big thank you Sal.
I will be truthful and tell you that deep down, I did not feel there was really a category that suited me. I did mention this to Kate at the awards, I think there needs to be something for those people with all round skills and who have worked in the industry for a long time, as they too need recognition for a life time of working behind chair. I do not necessarily mean a life time achievers’ award but I am sure that they could come up with something.
Also thank you to Errol Douglas MBE for taking time to have a picture taken with me. I now really like reading your positivity which you share on Twitter!
To all hairdressers keep shinning bright !!! You are all stars !!!
Love and light
