Meeting an Inspirational author – Val Wood

Over the years I have read a lot of autobiography’s and hope one day I will write my own.

I find people so interesting and their life’s journey.

So why did I choose to read fictional book, The Kitchen Maid?

Well I think it is because I remember meeting Val Wood while having dinner at Indian restaurant in her home town of Beverley, which is the area where her books are based.

I felt when I was choosing a book to read that what I needed was some inspiration to help me  start my own new journey at 48 writing this blog!

I remember when I spoke to Val about always wanting to write my autobiography she said she didn’t start writing until later in her life and she really gave me encouragement to put pen to paper.

This conversation with an inspirational lady has always stayed with me, she gave me a beautiful glass book mark to give to my mum, who is a big fan and has read all of her books.

The Kitchen Maid was fantastic book and really enjoyed reading the setting of East Riding of Yorkshire, where I live and work. It has given me a  truly uplifting experience.
